“During the pandemic, the COVID-19 ECHO clinics were a highlight of our academic outreach efforts, involving all Divisions of the Department of Medicine, as well as International Speakers. As the accompanying summary shows, more than 11,000 participants registered for these seminars from from 47 countries on 5 continents – demonstrating the reach and power of networking and the multiple benefits of connectivity. Our gratitude is expressed to Project ECHO of the University of New Mexico for extending the Liver Unit’s “Viral Hepatitis in sub-Saharan Africa” ECHO license and to the organisers of this very successful series from our Department: Professors Wendy Spearman, Mark Sonderup and Graeme Meintjes”.
