Academic Meetings

The Division of Nephrology holds regular clinical meetings where cases of interest are presented and discussed. Seminars covering renal, as well as liver and cardiac transplantation, and regular journal club meetings are also held.

Clinical Meeting

Monday 8 am. Here clinical cases of interest are presented and discussed.

Nephrology Journal Club

Monday 4.15 pm. Nephrologists and others interested in all aspects of renal disease present reviews of journal articles.

Dialysis transplant committee meeting

Monday at 12.30 All candidates for dialysis and transplantation are discussed and the decision to dialyse or offer only conservative therapy is made.

Transplant Seminars

The 2nd Tuesday of each month a transplantation seminar is presented covering renal as well as liver and cardiac transplantation. Venue. Department of Surgery seminar room. UCT Medical School.

Combined meeting with the University of Stellenbosch

On a Tuesday evening 4 times per year we have a combined clinico-pathological meeting with colleagues from Stellenbosch. The meeting alternates between Seminar room at Groote Schuur Renal unit and Tygerberg Hospital.

Post graduate teaching session

On Thursdays at 10.30 a consultant spends 11/2 hours in a teaching session with the registrars covering all the most common nephrological issues.

Combined pathology meeting

On Fridays at 12 noon we meet with pathologists to review all the renal biopsies performed in the last week. Microscope teaching room G23 Groote Schuur Hospital.

The venue for all of the above is the Seminar Room, Renal Unit E13 Groote Schuur Hospital except where otherwise indicated.
