Academic Meetings 

Regular academic meetings are held both within the Department and within its component divisions. Visitors are always welcome and in most cases, meetings are registered with the HPCSA for CPD accreditation purposes. Our annual Research Day allows our young researchers to share their work with the Department. An biennial Physicians Conference is held in the summer and is an opportunity for busy physicians in clinical practice to keep abreast of new developments in internal medicine and its subdisciplines.

Departmental Academic Meetings

Departmental meetings are held on Thursday afternoons in Lecture Theatre 2, E Floor Hospital Street, Groote Schuur Hospital. Local and invited speakers present a seminar at 4 pm, and a clinical meeting follows at 5pm. This meeting comprises three 20 minute case presentations. Visitors are welcome to attend. These meetings are accredited with the HPCSA for CPD purposes.

Annual Research Day

The 38^thAnnual Research Day is planned for Thursday. 04 October 2012. We would like as many members of the department to present their research as possible. Please email your typed abstract to Mrs Faiza Pearce  on or before Monday, 06 August 2012.Click here for the abstract form.

The 34r^d Bernard Pimstone Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Dr Bill Bishai, Director of the Howard Hughes Institute based at the University of KwaZulu Natal. Dr Bushai is an expert on tuberculosis.
