ESC Congress free registration and travel grants for young fellows and scientists

23 Jan 2018 - 13:15

As indicated in the SA Heart® circular, there are support opportunities for young cardiologists and scientists to attend the ESC congress.

Please could you consider these and bring them to the attention of your fellows / researchers:

The ESC has again allocated 25 free registrations to SA Heart® to attend the ESC congress end August in Munich to allow young clinicians and scientists to benefit from a strong Scientific & Educational programme, as well as to network with colleagues & peers and be inspired by global key opinion leaders. Cardiologists under the age of 36 – or if in training under the age of 40 – and basic scientists under the age of 36 can apply. Preferably first time attendees to the ESC congress, and of course applicants must be members of SA Heart®. Applications for these waived registration fees can be directed to the SA Heart® office and applicants must also provide their MyESC number and a copy of their ID document no later than 21 February 2018. (last year the offer was limited to clinicians)

As an affiliated society of the ESC, our younger members can also benefit from the ESC educational grant:

This offer is continued from recent years and is open to our members. They would receive a €850 travel grant, plus free registration to ESC Congress and a free ESC Professional Membership for 2018 (or 2019, if already an ESC Professional Member). Members can apply through the following webpage: ESC Congress Educational Grants. (direct application on ESC platform)
Grants will be awarded according to merit - for example, abstract presenters will be given credit over individuals who do not contribute with an abstract. Applications must be received ONLINE before 22 February 2018 and acceptance will be communicated in March 2018. We kindly request that you promote this opportunity to all of your members.

Basic requirements to be eligible for an ESC Educational Grant include:

  • Selected applicants must be 35 year old or under, or still in training
  • Selected applicants cannot have benefited from another ESC Grant (ESC Congress Educational Grant 2016 / 2017 – Basic science travel grant, etc…)
  • Selected applicants must comply with the sign in/sign out requirement at the congress as proof of attendance. Payment of the grants will be processed after the congress, provided the attendance criteria are met.
